Hyderabad: Revathy Thiagarajan, sales manager (name changed on request) had to return home and was unable to attend three scheduled meetings. “The meetings were important and we had been planning for the last month. The loss cannot be quantified. The Indigo staff instead of being apologetic speak rudely,” she said. Flight disruptions are continuing at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA). On December 10, (Wednesday) Indigo cancelled 77 flights including 40 arrivals and 37 departures. With this, the number of cancellations at the airport since December 3 has crossed 700.
The Ministry of Civil Aviation deputed officials to major airports on Tuesday (December 9) to assess the situation. In a post on X, the Ministry said an official had reviewed conditions at Hyderabad airport and found passenger flow to be smooth across key touch points. It added that airline communication systems were functioning well and that all stakeholders were focused on maintaining service reliability.
IndiGo issued a statement on Tuesday saying its operations had been reinstated after several days of steady improvement across the network. The airline said it operated more than 1,800 flights on Monday, connecting all 138 stations, and planned to operate nearly 1,900 flights the following day. It said on-time performance had returned to normal and that it had introduced an automated process for customers to receive full refunds for cancellations through a simple ‘No Questions Asked’ mechanism on its website.
