Collector calls for speeding up paddy procurement

The district Collector Ashish Sangwan on Wednesday instructed the officials for speeding up the process of paddy procurement. He made a surprise visit to the procurement centers. He inspected Guru Raghavednra Rice Mill in Ugravayi village of Kamareddy mandal and examined the stocks, transport and milling processes. He suggested that millers unload atleast 15 lorries of paddy every day.

After that he visited the Shabdipoor Paddy Procurement Centre and interacted with farmers. He also inspected the Adluri Ellareddy Paddy Procurement Centre and Sri Mannarayana Rice Mill in Sadashivanagar mandal.

Officials brought to the notice of the collector that 1100 metric tonnes of paddy crop was damaged in the district due to unseasonal rain. They also informed him that 3,78,000 tonnes of paddy was procured till now. The Collector instructed them to transport the paddy to the mills so that it does not get damaged by rains. He also suggested to cover paddy heaps completely with tarpaulins from bottom to top to protect them from moisture.
