Collector urges officials to create awareness about alternate crops

Jayashankar Bhupalpally District Collector Rahul Sharma has directed agriculture officials to create awareness among farmers about cultivating alternative crops in view of the possibility of below-normal rainfall due to the impact of El Niño, as indicated by the Meteorological Department. The Collector made these remarks while attending a Gram Sabha held on Wednesday at the Mahadevpur Gram Panchayat Office as part of the 99 day “Prajapalana Pragati Pranalika”. The meeting was conducted under the aegis of Sarpanch Hasina Bhanu.

Addressing the gathering, Collector Rahul Sharma stated that, in accordance with government directives, Gram Sabhas had been conducted across all village panchayats and municipal wards in the district on the 4th, 6th, 8th, and 10th of the month. He said the meetings were organized to identify public grievances and initiate measures for their resolution.The Collector noted that the district administration has been implementing the Prajapalana Pragati Pranalika 99-Day action plan in a systematic and planned manner as per government guidelines.

As part of the program, awareness campaigns have been conducted to educate citizens about various government welfare schemes. Feedback from the public is also being collected to improve service delivery and address local concerns. Referring to weather forecasts, Collector Rahul Sharma said that the expected El Niño conditions could affect rainfall patterns, making it essential for farmers to follow the agriculture department’s advisory and adopt suitable alternative cropping strategies. 

He urged farmers to cooperate with agriculture officials and adhere to the recommendations issued by the Meteorological Department to ensure better agricultural outcomes. On electoral matters, the Collector informed residents that a Special Summary Revision of Electoral Rolls would commence from June 15 in accordance with the directions of the Election Commission. 

He noted that the exercise is being conducted across several states and is currently underway in the district as well. Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will visit households to collect and verify voter information, and citizens were requested to cooperate during the process. He further stated that any suggestions, objections or corrections regarding voter details should be submitted in writing to the concerned Tahsildar. 

The Collector assured the public that issues raised during the Gram Sabha would be brought to the attention of the respective departments and necessary steps would be taken to address them.
