The future of India’s seed sector—and by extension, its food security—came into focus at the day long conference on “Emerging Trends in Sustainable & Innovative Techniques for Seed Packaging”, organized on Monday by the Indian Institute of Packaging (IIP) at Federation of Telangana Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Red Hills in which over 100 delegates participated. The conference highlighted how seed packaging has evolved from a basic containment function into a strategic pillar of agricultural performance, sustainability and global trade compliance.
The inaugural session featured eminent dignitaries including N. Nataraj, Deputy Director & Regional Officer, IIP Hyderabad; Ram Kaundinya, Advisor, Federation of Seed Industry of India; and Dr. Shaik N. Meera, Director, ICAR–Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute (ATARI), Zone X, Hyderabad. Highlighting the farmer’s perspective Ram Kaundinya remarked that for farmers, the first physical interaction with a seed is through its package and that moment determines trust.
