On the occasion of the 163rd birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda and National Youth Day, a seminar on the theme “Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities through Vocational Skills” was held at Manasa Institute of Child Health & Disability Studies. Addressing the gathering as the Guest of Honour, G. Nagaratnam Naidu, an expert in organic and natural farming recalled Swami Vivekananda’s vision that the true aim of education should be to enable individuals to stand on their own feet.
Speaking on the occasion, P. Sadanandam, Secretary General, Telangana State Power Engineers Association, expressed his happiness over the launch of a plant nursery at Manasa with the objective of improving sensory skills, fostering a sense of responsibility, and promoting teamwork among persons with intellectual disabilities.
Renowned environmental expert and Member of the Telangana State Expert Appraisal Committee (SEAC), Dr. Sarita Sajja, appreciated Manasa’s initiative to provide training to persons with intellectual disabilities in vocational skills such as handicrafts, tailoring and now in the nursery sector.
K. Narsimha Rao, Partner, Shoonya Tax Solutions expressed his happiness at participating as a volunteer in a tree-planting programme at Manasa along with former classmates, teachers and persons with intellectual disabilities.
