Advisor to the Telangana Government and senior Congress leader Mohammed Ali Shabbir announced that the Congress government has fulfilled its election promise of allotting land for a Muslim graveyard in Jubilee Hills. At a press conference in Rahmat Nagar, one acre and five guntas of land near Masjid Ghairabad in Shaikpet were formally handed over to serve Rahmat Nagar, Erragadda, Borabanda, and nearby areas.
The event was attended by Ministers Ponnam Prabhakar, G Vivek Venkataswamy, Wakf Board Chairman Syed Azmatullah Hussaini, TPCC Working President Md Azharuddin, and others. Shabbir Ali said the site will be developed with essential facilities like a boundary wall, ghusl and kafan arrangements, and watchman quarters. A community committee will oversee its maintenance.
“This is not charity—it’s a right we promised in our manifesto,” he stated, calling it a step toward justice for underserved communities. Responding to criticism, he emphasized the Congress government’s inclusive welfare schemes benefiting all communities, including free bus travel for women, ration cards, and high-quality rice distribution. He highlighted education initiatives, including 65 new ITIs offering courses in advanced skills. Companies like TCS have shown interest in recruiting from these institutes. Criticizing the previous BRS government, he said they failed to establish any major institutions for minorities.
Shabbir Ali also attended the foundation stone laying of TMREIS Girls Junior College in Erragadda, emphasizing women’s empowerment and the impact of 4% Muslim reservation, which enabled 1,226 Muslim students, including 741 girls, to secure MBBS seats in 2024–25.
