Congress govt ensures food security, housing and inclusive growth - Uttam

Minister for irrigation, food and civil supplies minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy today asserted the Congress government is committed to guarantee food security, providing housing to the needy, and driving inclusive growth to see that every citizen has the opportunity to live with dignity and progress.

Regarding the district’s progress, Uttam Kumar Reddy said Suryapet had achieved record agricultural output in both the Vanakalam and Yasangi seasons, with 3.36 lakh metric tonnes of paddy procured from 59,273 farmers through 336 purchase centres and Rs 783 crore credited directly to their accounts. Farmers benefited from the Rythu Bharosa income support, farm loan waiver, and Rythu Bima insurance, along with timely supply of subsidised seeds and fertilisers. Rythu Vedikas in 66 locations were equipped with video conferencing facility to connect farmers with agricultural scientists and departmental officials.

Under the Indiramma Housing Scheme, 14,000 houses have been sanctioned in the district, each with a Rs 5 lakh grant. Of these, 12,868 have been approved and 1,050 are under construction, while 1,792 one-bedroom houses have been completed in Huzurnagar municipality. In the power sector, 1.83 lakh households are receiving 200 units of free electricity every month under the Gruha Jyothi scheme, 1.57 lakh agricultural consumers are enjoying free power supply, and works are in progress for ten new substations and major upgrades to the distribution network, he added.
