In a significant success for the Telangana government's rehabilitation efforts, a woman member of the banned CPI (Maoist) party surrendered before Mulugu District Superintendent of Police Sudhir Ramnath Kekan on Friday. The surrender took place due to the influence of the awareness campaign titled “Poru Kanna Ooru Minna – Mana Ooriki Tirigi Randi” (Village is Better than War – Come Back to Your Village), launched by Mulugu district police for the development and welfare of tribal communities.

The woman, identified as Mudiyam Rame alias Rajitha, chose to leave the Maoist outfit and rejoin mainstream society after learning about the rehabilitation facilities provided by the Telangana government and the police department. Rajitha had been working as a platoon member in the presence of Vijjala alias Aithu (DKSZCM), who serves as the in-charge of the South Bastar Divisional Committee and 9th Platoon Commander.

During the surrender event, SP Sudhir Ramnath Kekan handed over an immediate rehabilitation financial assistance of Rs. 25,000 to Rajitha as part of the state's surrender policy. According to police sources, those who join the mainstream through the Janajeevana Sravanthi (stream of public life) initiative are provided with immediate cash rewards, medical services, rehabilitation assistance and full support to help them settle back into society peacefully. Police officials appealed to the families of the remaining Maoist cadres to counsel their relatives and encourage them to surrender.
