Members of the Shyam Prasad Nagar Welfare Association from Baghlingampally met Deputy Mayor Mothe Srilatha Shoban Reddy at the GHMC head office on Monday and submitted a petition seeking permanent housing. The residents informed the Deputy Mayor that hundreds of families have been living in temporary huts on government land in Shyam Prasad Nagar for nearly three decades. Despite several assurances from public representatives over the years, no concrete steps have been taken to provide them with proper houses, they said.
The residents expressed disappointment that, despite enduring hardships for years and hoping for government support, their housing issues remain unresolved. They appealed to GHMC to allocate double-bedroom houses within Shyam Prasad Nagar itself. If that is not possible, they requested the government to build and allot double-bedroom units for them in another suitable location, ensuring that families are not displaced without proper rehabilitation.
Responding to their representation, Deputy Mayor Mothe Srilatha Shoban Reddy assured them that the matter would be brought to the notice of Incharge Minister Ponnam Prabhakar and Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. She stated that necessary steps would be taken to ensure justice and relief for the long-settled families residing in the area.
