GHMC Deputy Mayor Mothe Srilatha Shobhan Reddy responded promptly to complaints that the lift at the Foot Over Bridge near Tarnaka St. Ann’s High School had not been functioning, causing serious inconvenience to students, senior citizens, and local residents who depend on the bridge to safely cross the busy main road. Locals expressed concern that the prolonged breakdown was increasing the risk of accidents during peak school hours.
Acting on these complaints, Srilatha Shobhan Reddy, along with TTUC State President Mothe Shobhan Reddy, visited the site and conducted a thorough inspection of the lift. GHMC engineering officials were called to the location during the visit, and the Deputy Mayor sought a detailed explanation regarding the technical issues that caused the lift to become inoperative.
She issued clear and strict instructions to the officials, stating that the repair work must be completed immediately and the lift should be restored for public use without delay. She warned that any negligence or delay would lead to action against the responsible officers. GHMC officials assured her that the necessary spare parts were being arranged urgently and that the lift would be fully functional within three days.
The Deputy Mayor further emphasised that ensuring public amenities and safety remains a top priority for the government and GHMC. She urged citizens to promptly report civic issues so they can be addressed without delay. Local leaders, colony residents, the school management, and traffic police personnel also participated in the inspection.
