Revanth Reddy praises Goud’s contributions at ‘Vijaya Telangana’ book launch
Metro India News | Hyderabad
The Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, speaking at the launch of the book Vijaya Telangana authored by Devender Goud, hailed the senior leader as a visionary who played a crucial role in the Telangana movement. The CM emphasized that history should reflect the sacrifices of students and youth, rather than being shaped by a single individual, family, or political party.
Revanth Reddy highlighted Devender Goud’s courageous decision to step away from a promising political future to fight for Telangana’s cause. He recalled how Goud’s padayatra, advocating for the utilization of Godavari waters, influenced the then government to take up the Chevella Pranahita project. The CM also noted that Goud was among the first to symbolize Telangana as “TG,” a sentiment later embraced by the people.
The Chief Minister reaffirmed his government’s commitment to honoring the sacrifices of Telangana activists, announcing houses and Rs 1 crore each for nine individuals who gave everything for the movement. He also reiterated initiatives like making Jaya Jayahe Telangana the official state anthem and changing the state's abbreviation from TS to TG, in line with public sentiment.
Revanth Reddy expressed regret over the absence of leaders like Devender Goud in active politics, calling for more value-driven leadership in Telangana. He concluded by stating that the government’s actions reflect the will of the people, ensuring that the true spirit of the Telangana movement is preserved.
