Announcing the program at a media interaction in Vijayawada on Friday, university Vice-Chancellor Dr P. Chandrasekhar said the institution would complete 40 years on November 1, 2026. Established on November 1, 1986, it holds the distinction of being the country’s first health sciences university. The Ruby Jubilee celebrations will be held at Dr B.R. Ambedkar Kala Vedika in Vijayawada on Monday, October 26.

The university is making elaborate arrangements for the event, which is expected to draw eminent medical professionals, distinguished alumni and other prominent personalities. The milestone reflects the institution’s longstanding role in advancing medical education and strengthening the healthcare workforce. Its specialized academic framework has helped bring multiple health sciences disciplines under a common university system, supporting professional education and institutional development. The celebrations are intended to recognize the contributions of the university’s faculty, students, alumni and healthcare professionals while reflecting on its achievements and future responsibilities.
