The Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing (HNEW) on Sunday arrested a civil contractor for peddling drugs and seized narcotics worth Rs 12 lakh from him.
The accused, Ejiz Ahmed (28), a native of Bengaluru, was caught at Masab Tank with 11 grams of MDMA, 35 grams of cocaine, and 5 grams of OG Khush ganja, 15 Ecstasy pills, Rs 1,100 in cash, and a mobile phone.
According to police, Ahmed purchased the drugs from a Nigerian national in Bengaluru and brought them to Hyderabad for sale. Originally from Bihar, Ahmed’s family migrated to Karnataka in 1998 and settled in Karwar, where his father works as a civil contractor. He pursued a B.Tech degree in Bengaluru but dropped out before completion.
After briefly running his own civil contracting business, financial losses forced him to shut it down. During the 2020 lockdown, Ahmed began using drugs, eventually turning to peddling to sustain his addiction and earn easy money by selling narcotics in Bengaluru and Hyderabad.
