The Bandlaguda police have arrested five men in connection with the murder of a pan-shop owner at Ghousenagar in Bandlaguda on Sunday.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Syed Shah Fahad (23), Syed Sohail (21), Mohammed Amer (24), Mohammed Bin Abdullah Saif (32), and Shaik Afroz (30).
The victim, Mohsin, operated a pan shop in Ghousenagar under the Bandlaguda police station limits. According to ACP Chandrayangutta, the accused were previously involved in several cattle theft cases reported in the city. They had recently been arrested in connection with those cases and were released from jail.
After being released, Fahad allegedly learned that Mohsin had been providing information about their activities to rival gangs, who in turn alerted the police. Seeking revenge, the accused allegedly intercepted Mohsin on October 29 and fatally stabbed him in Ghousenagar.
Following a complaint lodged by Sajjad, a resident of Ghousenagar, on October 29, regarding the murder in front of Azam Emporium Shop, the police registered a case and began an investigation.
During the probe, police apprehended the five accused on Saturday. They were found in possession of three knives and several bikes, which were seized as evidence. The accused have been produced before the court and remanded to judicial custody.
