The Dundigal Police have solved a major jewellery burglary, arresting three suspects from Rajasthan and Telangana and recovering nearly 15 kg of stolen silver, officials said on Monday.
The arrested are Chetan Prakash from Secunderabad, Sirajuddin from Ajmer, and Kalu Kag, also known as Kaluram, from Medchal. The case relates to a break-in at Someshwar Jewellery in Bowrampet on November 8, when unidentified thieves drilled a hole through the shutter of a neighboring vacant premises to gain entry.
Police said the trio had rented the adjacent shutter to carry out the theft. They arrived in a Bolero, used a crowbar to break into the shop, and fled with about 15 kg of silver.
Chetan Prakash and Sirajuddin were arrested in Rajasthan on November 19, while Kaluram was caught in Bahadurpally on November 26. Authorities recovered 3.5 kg of silver from Kaluram and seized the rest in Bengaluru. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend three more absconding suspects.
