The Telangana State Election Commission (TGSEC), on Monday, announced the schedule for the preparation, display, and verification of territorial constituency-wise electoral rolls for Mandal Praja Parishads and Zilla Praja Parishads.
In the notification, TGSEC has outlined a structured timeline to facilitate the process. The draft display of territorial constituency-wise electoral rolls for Mandal Praja Parishads and Zilla Praja Parishads will occur on September 6. Following this, meetings with representatives of political parties are planned at both district and mandal levels on September 8. At the district level, these will be conducted by the District Election Authorities, while at the mandal level, they will be handled by Mandal Parishad Development Officers (MPDOs) and Additional District Election Authorities (ADEAs).
The commission has also set aside a window for the receipt of claims and objections regarding any missing Gram Panchayats and wards, which will be accepted from September 6 to September 8. Disposal of these claims, objections, and suggestions is slated for September 9, ensuring prompt resolution. The final display of the territorial constituency-wise electoral rolls will take place on September 10, marking the completion of this preparatory phase.
TGSEC emphasized the importance of political party involvement in this process. All recognized and registered political parties in the state were urged to utilize this opportunity to verify the electoral rolls, particularly with regard to the coverage of constituent Gram Panchayats and wards. This collaborative effort is intended to enhance the integrity and inclusivity of the electoral process for Local Body elections.
Photo Electoral Rolls for GPs to be published on Sep.2
It may be mentioned here that The Telangana State Election Commission has directed all District Panchayat Officers (DPOs), on August 26, to prepare and publish Photo Electoral Rolls for Gram Panchayats to ensure accurate voter lists for the upcoming local body elections.
The process includes the preparation and display of draft ward-wise electoral rolls at Gram Panchayat and Mandal Praja Parishad offices, District-level meetings with political party representatives followed by mandal-level meetings. Objections on voter rearrangements were also invited and resolved with the final ward-wise Photo Electoral Rolls to be published on September 2 (Tuesday).
The Election Commission circulated these instructions to all DPOs, Additional District Election Authorities, MPDOs, CEOs, and District Collectors, excluding Hyderabad and Medchal-Malkajgiri districts.
