Tourism Minister Jupally Krishna Rao announced that the Bathukamma festival will be celebrated as a grand carnival across Telangana from September 21 to 30. The announcement was made during a press conference at the Secretariat, alongside Endowments Minister Konda Surekha and Panchayat Raj Minister Seethakka.

The celebrations will begin on September 21 at the historic Thousand Pillar Temple in Warangal. A major highlight will be an attempt to set a Guinness World Record with a large-scale event at LB Stadium in Hyderabad on September 29. Special celebrations involving women’s self-help groups are also planned at People’s Plaza, while colleges across the state will host student-led events. The government has signed agreements with airlines to promote Bathukamma nationally.

Minister Seethakka highlighted that Bathukamma is a unique, women-centric festival symbolizing the bond between nature, flowers, and divinity. ‘This is not just a celebration, but a reflection of Telangana’s pride and cultural richness,’ she said, emphasizing its role in uniting families and communities.

Minister Konda Surekha stressed the importance of preserving and promoting the festival globally. She praised the efforts of the Tourism Department in organizing the inaugural event in Warangal and acknowledged the legacy of women like Rani Rudrama, Sammakka-Sarakka, and Chakali Ilamma, who have played pivotal roles in Telangana’s history.

‘Bathukamma reflects our harmony with nature and is a festival that fills every household with fragrance and joy,’ she said, expressing confidence in the grand success of the celebrations with support from Warangal residents and tourism officials. Tourism Corporation MD Valluri Kranthi, Cultural Department Director Mamidi Harikrishna, and Bathukamma festival organiser Dillishwari were also present at the event.
