400 engineers needed to supervise Indiramma houses, says Ponguleti

Minister suggests to consider how to utilize the services of engineering staff in other government departments

Currently, there are 274 engineers in the Housing Corporation and another 400 engineers are needed for the construction and supervision of Indiramma houses in the state,” said Revenue, Housing and Information and Public Relations Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy.

The Minister suggested to the CS to consider how to utilize the services of engineering staff in other government departments. He suggested to the officials to prepare a special action plan for the construction of houses within the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation.

He said that in the first phase, those who have a house plot will be provided with a house and in the second phase, those who do not have a house plot will be provided with an Indiramma house along with the house plot. He reviewed the Indiramma houses scheme, revenue system and appointment of surveyors in her houses and villages with Chief Secretary Shanthikumari in his office at the Secretariat.

In this meeting, there was a lengthy discussion on mobilizing the engineering department required for the construction of Indiramma houses, appointment of a revenue officer for each revenue village, and appointment of surveyors.

Minister Srinivasa Reddy advised the officials to place two lists in the gram sabhas, one for those who have residential land and the other for those who do not have residential land, regarding the beneficiaries eligible for Indiramma houses. He said that the construction of Indiramma houses is being undertaken in phases.

Regarding the village revenue system, he said that a revenue officer will be appointed for each revenue village. For this, he instructed the officials to select eligible persons from VROs and VRAs and conduct separate examinations, and to immediately make the necessary arrangements for conducting the examinations. He advised the officials that the selection process should be transparent in the context of the fact that there are currently 450 surveyors in the state and there is a need for another thousand surveyors.

Revenue Department Principal Secretary Naveen Mittal, Housing Secretary Jyoti Buddha Prakash, Housing Corporation MD V.P. Gautam, GHMC Commissioner Ilambarthi, CMRO Director Makarand and others participated in this meeting.
