Dadasaheb Phalke’s grandson upset with SS Rajamouli for not approaching him about biopic, praises Aamir Khan

Father of Indian cinema Dadasaheb Phalke’s grandson has expressed disappointment over filmmaker SS Rajamouli planning to make a his grandfather’s biopic. For the unawares, soon after Aamir Khan and Rajkumar Hirani announced that they have reunited to made Phalke’s biopic, it was reported that Rajamouli was also planning to make one in 2023 with Jr NTR playing the lead. The project was titled Made In India.

However, after the reports surfaced, Phalke’s grandson Chandrashekhar Srikrishna said he is not happy with Rajamouli. In an interview with Amar Ujala, Srikrishna said that the RRR director never approached him for the biopic. Instead, he praised Aamir and his team for doing a proper research.

“I have been hearing discussions about Rajamouli’s project, but he never contacted me for it. No one spoke to me on behalf of Rajamouli. If someone is making a film on Phalke ji, then at least the family should be talked to. The family cannot be ignored, it’s we who know the real stories,” Srikrishna said.

“Aamir-Hirani’s team worked hard to gain trust. Their project was a surprise for me too. I just got to know that they have tied up, but their assistant producer, Hindukush Bhardwaj, has been in touch with me for the last three years. He used to come to meet me again and again, do research, and ask for details. I told him clearly, you guys are working honestly, you go ahead, I have no objection,” Srikrishna added.
