District Collector Kumar Deepak has stressed the need to pay special attention to ensuring a healthy future for young children and pregnant women. On Saturday, he attended the 8th phase of Poshan Pakwada(fortnight) program organized by the District Women and Child Development Department at the Collectorate, along with District Welfare Officer Rauf Khan and District Medical & Health Officer Dr. Anita. Speaking on the occasion, the Collector said that the 8th phase of Poshan Pakwada was conducted from 9th to 23rd of this month.

He highlighted that brain development in children is at its peak during the first six years of life, and this program gave special focus to this critical aspect. The Collector directed officials to conduct awareness programs more extensively at the grassroots level through Anganwadi Centres. He emphasized the need to create awareness on nutrition for pregnant women and children, with special focus on proper nutrition during the first 1,000 days of life and early child development.

He added that play-based learning is being promoted at Anganwadi Centres. He instructed officials to organize Poshan Panchayats and community awareness programs. He also advised providing guidance to parents to reduce children’s screen time. As part of the program, Shrimantam (traditional baby shower ceremony) was organized for four pregnant women, along with Aksharabhyasam (initiation into education) and graduation certificate distribution for children. Later, the Collector visited the stalls set up on the occasion.
