Four persons were booked and sent to a de-addiction centre after testing positive in narcotic screening conducted by Bellampalli One Town Police in connection with ganja transportation cases. The action was taken as part of special measures to curb narcotics transport, storage and consumption in the town.
Under the supervision of Bellampalli One Town Inspector K. Srinivas Rao, six persons previously accused in ganja transportation cases were summoned to the police station for counselling. They were later shifted to the Mancherial Government Hospital where doctors conducted urine-based narcotic tests.
Medical officials confirmed that four of them tested positive for narcotic substance use. Based on the reports, police registered cases against S.K. Jameer of Bellampalli Basti, R.M.D. Taj Baba and S.K. Kaleem of Vegetable Market area, and Thota Manideep of 65 Dip area. The accused were produced before the court.
Following court directions, the four were shifted to the de-addiction centre at Mancherial Government Hospital for 15 days. Inspector Srinivas Rao warned that strict action would continue against narcotics transportation, storage and consumption activities.
