Man gets 5-year jail term in chain snatching case

A city court has sentenced a chain snatching accused to five years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 25,000 in a 2018 theft case registered at Shahalibanda Police Station.

According to police, the incident occurred on July 24, 2018, near Patarki Dargah, where the accused, Muthu Hari Krishna, allegedly snatched a gold chain from a woman and escaped from the spot. Acting swiftly, Shahalibanda police traced and apprehended the accused and recovered the stolen gold chain along with cash.

The investigation was conducted by Detective Inspector B. Narasimha Sanjay Reddy, who collected and presented strong evidence before the court. After examining the evidence and witness statements, the Hon’ble XVI Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court at Nampally found the accused guilty.

The judgment was delivered by Judge G. Prabhakar, awarding the accused five years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 25,000. SHO P. Mahesh Goud appreciated the police staff for ensuring timely investigation and successful conviction in the case.
