Minister for Education, IT, and Electronics, Nara Lokesh, flagged off free electric bus services in Mangalagiri constituency on Monday from his residence in Undavalli. The initiative aims to facilitate transportation for residents traveling to AIIMS Hospital and Panakala Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple from distant areas.

Mega Engineering & Infrastructure Ltd (MEIL) is to provide buses through their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds. MEIL Foundation donated two state-of-the-art Olectra 7-meter electric buses, valued at Rs. 2.4 crore. One of the buses will operate from Mangalagiri Bus Stand to AIIMS via NRI Junction and the DGP Office, while the second bus will run from Mangalagiri Bus Stand to Panakala Swamy Temple via NRI Junction. The AIIMS-bound bus will operate from 6 AM to 6 PM, while the temple-bound bus will be available from 7 AM to 8 PM. These services will be provided free of cost to passengers.

Each bus has a seating capacity of 18 passengers and can travel up to 150 km on a single charge. Equipped with advanced safety and technological features, the buses include digital instrument panels, Electronic Hydraulic Power Steering (EHPS), Real-Time Vehicle Tracking Systems (VTS), and Reverse Park Assist Systems (RPAS).
