From Delhi to Galli: Akash Kolluru’s journey in public life

From the corridors of newsrooms to the streets where some of the country's most challenging stories unfold, Akash Kolluru's professional journey reflects a transition from frontline journalism to strategic communication and political engagement. A journalist who reportedly faced nearly 100 life-threatening situations during his career, Kolluru has built his professional experience across broadcast media, public communication, policy-related initiatives and organisational leadership.

An alumnus of the Hyderabad Public School and Osmania University, where he studied Political Science and Mass Communication, Kolluru developed an academic understanding of governance, media and society before entering the competitive world of journalism. Kolluru's transition into public and political communication marks another important phase of his career. He currently serves as the State President of the Social and Digital Media Wing and National Media Spokesperson of the Telangana Rakshana Sena (TRS).

In these roles, his professional responsibilities extend to political communication, digital outreach, media engagement and organizational activities. He is now entering the electoral arena as a candidate for the Hyderabad–Rangareddy–Mahabubnagar Graduates' Legislative Council (MLC) constituency, bringing his experience in journalism, communication and public affairs into the graduates' political space.
