GHMC Commissioner R.V. Karnan has directed officials to draft clear, project-wise timelines for ongoing works under the H‑CITI initiative and the SRDP Strategic Road Development Programme. In a three-hour review, he assessed progress on flyovers, ROBs, RUBs, junction upgrades, and road widening across all zones.
Zonal officials flagged bottlenecks, and Karnan emphasized that fund shortages aren’t the issue. He urged fast-tracking of land acquisition and utility shifting, and promised swift escalation of any matters requiring state intervention. Collaboration with Metro Rail, Defense, Railway authorities, and Traffic Police was mandated to minimize public disruption.
To streamline project planning and reduce reliance on consultants, GHMC has formed a 10-member In‑House Design Wing, led by the Chief Engineer (Projects). This expert team—staffed by executives from premier institutes like IITs and NIT Warangal—will generate GADs, structural designs, and vet DPRs, aiming for completion in just 10–15 working days. The meeting saw the participation of multiple zone commissioners and senior engineering officials.
