The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has completed all necessary arrangements to ensure a smooth, safe, and eco-friendly Ganesh idol immersion, GHMC Commissioner R V Karnan announced on Monday.

Karnan, along with Additional Commissioner Raghu Prasad, inspected key immersion sites at Necklace Road including People’s Plaza, Sunrise Point, Lake View Park Bathukamma Pond, and Sanjeevaiah Park Baby Pond. He reviewed lighting, barricades, crane setups, and control rooms.

Immersion arrangements have been made at 20 lakes and 72 artificial ponds. GHMC has deployed 134 static cranes, 259 mobile cranes, and arranged 9 boats with 200 trained swimmers at Hussain Sagar in coordination with the Tourism Department. Thirteen control rooms have been set up in coordination with the police.

To manage the 303.3 km-long main procession route, 160 Ganesh Action Teams are on duty. Around 14,486 sanitation workers are working in three shifts to maintain cleanliness. Since the start of the festival, GHMC has cleared 3,000 metric tons of waste using 125 JCBs and 102 mini-tippers.

For public convenience, 39 mobile toilets and 56,187 temporary lights have been installed at immersion points and along the routes. Seven medical camps with ambulances will operate in shifts for emergencies. As part of road safety efforts, over 90% of potholes across Hyderabad have been repaired, with ongoing work on remaining stretches. Karnan urged organisers to transport idols on time and appealed to the public to use designated garbage points to maintain cleanliness during the festivities.
