GHMC is intensifying its monsoon preparedness by identifying 141 flood-prone areas across Hyderabad. Locations such as Cyberabad, LB Nagar, Uppal, Malkajgiri, Gopalpuram, Banjara Hills, Jubilee Hills, Begumpet, Madhapur, Gachibowli, Miyapur, and Tolichowki have been marked as vulnerable to water stagnation during intense rainfall.

Additionally, several neighborhoods in the Old City, including Talabkatta, Tadbun, Yakutpura, Dabeerpura, Darulshifa, Bahadurpura, and Old Malakpet, are expected to experience flooding during heavy downpours.

To mitigate risks, GHMC has categorized these locations based on severity and deployed specialized teams in all zones of GHMC to ensure swift intervention and flood prevention. Temporary shelters have been set up in key areas to provide refuge and assistance to those affected by excessive rainfall.

The civic body is actively coordinating with multiple agencies, including law enforcement, the municipal water board, and disaster management authorities, to facilitate rapid emergency responses. GHMC is also working closely with departments such as the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board, fire and police services, Disaster Response Force, and Telangana State Southern Power Distribution Company Limited to address flood-related challenges, minimize power disruptions, and maintain smooth transportation across the city.

Additionally, GHMC is prioritizing traffic regulation, implementing strategies to ease congestion caused by rain-induced road conditions. Residents are advised to remain vigilant, avoid inundated areas, and adhere to official directives to prevent accidents and health hazards.

GHMC has also identified numerous dilapidated buildings within its jurisdiction, focusing on demolition, repairs, and evacuation efforts. Commissioner RV Karnan has directed officials to take special measures, including issuing notices for evacuation, sealing hazardous structures, and installing barricades and warning signs.
