GHMC Standing Committee approves key infra projects

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Standing Committee convened its second meeting on Thursday at the Command Control Room in the GHMC headquarters. The committee approved nine proposals and two tabled items, including road widening projects, infrastructure development, and utility upgrades. 

During the meeting, the mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi emphasized the importance of policy decisions made by the Standing Committee and urged officials to focus on increasing GHMC’s revenue sources. She also stressed that all tenders and decisions must receive committee approval before implementation. 

Among the approved proposals were the expansion of Krishna Drinking Water Supply Phase-2, the construction of a box drain in Bandlaguda, and the development of an animal care center in Gopanpally under CSR funding. The committee also sanctioned road widening projects in various locations, including Dabeerpura, Goshamahal, and Khajaguda Junction, along with park development initiatives at Jubilee Hills Checkpost and Road No. 36. 

Additionally, the committee approved an Rs 749 crore project for multi-level flyovers and grade separators at key junctions. The tabled items included Rs 2.95 crore for road and drainage restoration in Secunderabad and an extension of LED street lighting maintenance until a new agency is finalized.  The meeting was attended by GHMC Commissioner R.V. Karnan, Standing Committee members, zonal commissioners, and other officials.
