Governor calls upon youth to follow Kumram Bheem’s ideals

Telangana Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla has urged the youth to draw inspiration from the ideals of tribal martyr Kumram Bheem and march forward with courage and determination. The Governor was speaking as the chief guest at the “Kumram Bheem Jal-Jangal-Zameen Spirit Gramotsavam-2026” held on Friday at Routa Sankepalli village in Kumram Bheem Asifabad district. Describing Routa Sankepalli not merely as a village but as a sacred place symbolising Adivasi bravery, sacrifice, self-respect, and culture, Governor Shukla said Kumram Bheem’s slogan “Jal, Jangal, Zameen” represents the harmonious coexistence of nature and humanity.

The Governor highlighted that despite not having a large army, Kumram Bheem fought fearlessly for rights and self-respect. His sacrifice continues to inspire the entire nation, he said. He called it the collective responsibility of everyone to pass on the thoughts and ideals of great Adivasi leaders to the younger generation. Governor Shukla described the “Gramotsavam” as a commendable initiative that gives importance to rural development, traditional education, health, and social awareness.

He laid strong emphasis on women’s empowerment, stating that societal progress is impossible without it. He called for providing equal opportunities to women in education, dignity, and self-reliance. The Governor expressed confidence that Routa Sankepalli would emerge as a model centre for Adivasi development in the future. He appreciated the organisers and social workers for conducting the Gramotsavam.Earlier, he paid floral tributes at Kumram Bheem’s statue and laid the foundation stone for a bronze statue of the tribal leader.

Former Governor Bandaru Dattatreya also addressed the gathering. He praised Kumram Bheem as a great leader who laid the foundation for the fight for self-respect. He recalled how Kumram Bheem fought against the Nizam’s oppressive rule with the powerful slogan “Jal Jangal Zameen” to protect tribal rights.
