SP conducts bike patrol against ganja

District Superintendent of Police(SP) Dr.Shabarish carried out a bike patrol at midnight on Saturday as part of a special drive to eradicate the evil of ganja and other drug substances in the district. Along with police teams, he inspected the areas where there was a chance of drugs and ganja being consumed. He made surprise checks in abandoned places in Mahabubabad town and surrounding rural areas, open grounds, bushes, parks, areas nearby to railway tracks and educational institutions. He also enquired if any consumption of ganja was being made.

Speaking on this occasion, Dr.Shabarish mentioned that special focus would continue on those suspected of selling, supplying and consuming of ganja. He opined that ganja is destroying the future of the youth and made it clear that the district police is making all efforts to eradicate it at all levels. He also mentioned that apart from proceeding legally against those involved with ganja, a de-addiction center is also being run in Mahabubabad district hospital to rehabilitate and cure those addicted to ganja and drugs.

The SP stated that so far drug related tests have been conducted to hundred people. He asked the family members of those who had ganja addiction to call helpline number of the district police-8712656999 and assured the details of those who approached would strictly be kept confidential.  He appealed to the parents to be watchful of their childrens’ activities and also to the people to report to the police immediately if they come to know of any ganja related information.
