Governor launches 76th TB seal sale campaign

Governor Jishnu Dev Varma on Monday inaugurated the 76th Tuberculosis (TB) Seal Sale Campaign at a special function held at Raj Bhavan, Hyderabad. In his address, the Governor described the TB Seal Sale Campaign as not just a tradition but a shared moral responsibility to build a healthier and compassionate India.

He said tuberculosis remains a major public health and social challenge closely linked to poverty, nutrition, and awareness.The Governor called for collective participation in eradicating TB and appealed to youth icons, artists, sportspersons, NGOs, corporates, and educational institutions to join the mission to make India TB-free.

“TB Mukt Bharat does not mean preventing TB; it means removing TB completely,” he said. Jishnu Dev Varma appreciated the continuous efforts of the Tuberculosis Association of Telangana in awareness, testing, nutritional support, and research.

He suggested exploring ways to provide hand-held X-ray machines in every district with corporate support under CSR initiatives.

He reaffirmed that Raj Bhavan would serve as a coordinator and catalyst in the drive towards a TB-free Telangana based on compassion, cooperation, and commitment.

The event was attended by Principal Secretary to the Governor M. Dana Kishore, senior officials of Raj Bhavan; Dr. B. Sai Babu, Retd., additional director of medical & health services, united government of Andhra Pradesh & Trust Board member of the Association; D. Balachandra, honourary general secretary, TB Association of Telangana; Dr. A. Rajesham, joint director (TB) & honourary secretary (official), TB Association of Telangana; members of the Tuberculosis Association of Telangana, healthcare professionals, and volunteers.
