The BJP-supported candidate C Anji Reddy has won the closely fought election to Medak-Karimnagar-Nizamabad-Adilabas Graduates’ MLC constituency against Congress-supported candidate V Narender Reddy. The defeat would hurt Congress as the seat was held by senior leader and former minister T Jeevan Reddy. BJP's fresh big upset made its tally of victories to two out of three MLC constituencies for which elections were held in Telangana.

This Graduate constituency witnessed a three way fight between BJP's Anji Reddy, Congress' Narender Reddy and BSP's Prasanna Harikrishna of BSP. It was an advantage for the BJP as the saffron party maintained a clear lead over its opponents in the first preferential vote counting.

As per reports, the Karimnagar-Medak-Nizamabad-Adilabad Graduate constituency, BJP got around 34% of the total first preferential votes, the Congress 31.5% and the BSP 27%. Since none of the candidates got over 50% votes, the counting of second preferential votes determined the eventual winner after elimination of various candidates in the fray.

While the polling was held for two teachers' seats and one graduate's seat, the BJP and the PRTU have already bagged one each from the two teachers' seats. The saffron party contested all three seats, the Congress only contested the Graduates' seat.

BJP's Malka Komaraiah won the Medak-Nizamabad-Karimnagar-Adilabad Teachers' constituency MLC seat. In the Nalgonda-Warangal-Khammam Teachers' constituency, PRTU’s Pingili Sripal Reddy emerged victorious.
