Guru Dutt’s restored classics shine

As part of the legendary filmmaker Guru Dutt’s 100th birth anniversary celebrations, Ultra Media & Entertainment Group has unveiled meticulously restored versions of his iconic films at the Cannes Film Festival 2025. The selection includes timeless masterpieces such as Pyaasa, Kaagaz Ke Phool, Chaudhvin Ka Chand, and Sahib Bibi Aur Ghulam, marking a global tribute to one of Indian cinema’s most revered storytellers.

The restored films are part of Ultra’s initiative to preserve and showcase India’s cinematic legacy. Utilizing advanced 4K/2K frame-by-frame restoration techniques and leading software like Diamant and PF Clean, these classics have been revived for a new generation of viewers.  Born on July 9, 1925, Guru Dutt’s centenary is being commemorated with a month-long 

celebration across India this July, featuring nationwide theatrical re-releases, exhibitions, and panel discussions with contemporary filmmakers. In addition, Ultra has also colourised classics like Chori Chori, Paigham, and Insaniyat, reinforcing their commitment to restoring Indian cinematic gems. They have revitalised these old classics for future generations. This initiative is a part of their broader commitment to preserve India's cinematic heritage and share it with the world.
