Telangana Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla on Wednesday called for expanding Bharat Scouts and Guides (BSG) activities in private schools across the State, while reviewing the organisation’s growth and future plans at Raj Bhavan in Hyderabad.

A delegation of Bharat Scouts and Guides Telangana met the Governor and briefed him on the organisation’s expansion, infrastructure development and ongoing scouting activities. The team was led by M. Dana Kishore, Special Chief Secretary to the Governor and State Chief Commissioner of BSG, along with E. Naveen Nicolas, Director of School Education and State Secretary of BSG, besides other senior office-bearers.

During the meeting, the delegation informed the Governor that scouting activities were currently being conducted in all 33 districts of Telangana. Dana Kishore said infrastructure facilities for BSG were being strengthened with support from Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds and the Governor’s Funds.

He said nearly 1,200 BSG units were functioning across the State with more than 30,000 students actively participating in scouting programmes.

Naveen Nicolas said the State government had been extending financial support to BSG activities and added that 1,000 schools had enrolled during the 2025-26 academic year. Another 1,000 schools are expected to join in 2026-27.

Appreciating the progress, the Governor stressed the need to increase participation from private schools and strengthen leadership-building activities among students.
