Hyderabad: Acting on credible intelligence, the Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing (H-NEW) apprehended a Nigerian national living illegally in India and subsequently deported him after confirming that his visa and passport had expired. The individual, identified as Johnkennedy Chukwuemeka Okoro, also known as Hopy Cup or Jeksa (43), hails from Imo State, Nigeria.

He had arrived in Mumbai in 2012 on a business visa to pursue the garment business but continued to reside in India even after his travel documents lapsed. Authorities revealed that Okoro frequently traveled between Bengaluru and Hyderabad and had allegedly become involved in drug-peddling activities to earn quick money. He was detained while moving suspiciously within the Asif Nagar Police Station jurisdiction.

Although no drugs were recovered during the search, H-NEW verified his records with the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO), confirming his illegal stay. Officials noted that his continued presence posed potential risks to national security due to suspected links with drug networks. Following due legal procedures, H-NEW coordinated with FRRO to deport him safely to Nigeria.
