Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Panchayat Raj, Rural Development, and Rural Water Supply Pawan Kalyan announced that villagers will soon have direct access to information on rural roads through the Geo Rural Road Management System, a digital initiative aimed at transparency and public participation in infrastructure monitoring.
Chairing a high-level review meeting with officials from Panchayat Raj, Rural Development, and Rural Water Supply departments, the Deputy CM said his government’s top priorities are to ensure clean drinking water and pothole-free roads in every village. He directed officials to develop the new geo-based technology within 48 hours, beginning with a pilot project under “Adavi Thalli Baata.” “The public should be able to see road conditions in real time where roads exist, what their quality is, and how new works are progressing,” he emphasized, adding that accountability to citizens must be the guiding principle.
The Deputy CM expressed dissatisfaction over the slow progress of rural infrastructure projects despite sufficient funding. He instructed officials to expedite Adavi Thalli Baata works, linking 761 tribal villages through 662 new roads with an outlay of Rs. 1,158 crore. Pawan Kalyan also announced the launch of Palle Panduga 2.0, utilizing Rs. 2,123 crore in SASCI funds for 4,007 km of roads and rural infrastructure.
He reviewed progress under the Jal Jeevan Mission, stressing strict adherence to quality standards and promising field visits from November 17 to personally inspect water supply systems. The minister also set a target to distribute one crore property ownership cards under the Swamitva Scheme by March 2026, ensuring rightful ownership of rural lands.
