Former minister and BRS deputy floor leader Harish Rao alleged that the Congress government has failed on every major promise made to farmers, students, youth and weaker sections while burdening people with increased taxes and charges.

He participated in an extended-level party workers’ meeting at Lakshmi Narasimha Gardens in Alganur village of Manakondur constituency in Karimnagar district on Tuesday.

BRS leaders Gangula Kamalakar, Jeevan Reddy, MLC L. Ramana, MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy, former MLA Rasamayi Balakishan and party workers attended the meeting.

Speaking on the occasion, Harish Rao said BRS workers in Manakondur had played a crucial role during the Telangana movement and the constituency has remained a stronghold of committed party cadres since the party’s inception in 2001. He alleged that false and politically motivated cases were being filed against BRS leaders and workers.

The BRS leader stated that the Congress government has replaced welfare schemes with scams and accused it of corruption in Civil Supplies, Singareni, power, land transactions and even welfare programmes in Gurukul institutions.

Referring to alleged irregularities in Gurukul institutions, Harish Rao said that tenders worth nearly Rs.1,200 crore for uniforms and shoes and Rs.800 crore for food supplies had been awarded under questionable circumstances. He remarked that even the concerned Ministers appeared unaware of the details of tenders issued by their own departments.
