With heavy and unseasonal rains continuing to batter several parts of Andhra Pradesh, the state government has issued high-alert instructions to district administrations, urging officials to remain vigilant round-the-clock to prevent loss of life and property.

In Nandyal district, Minister B.C. Janardhan Reddy directed officials to stay on duty 24x7 and remain accessible to the public. He emphasized that farmers should be alerted about possible damage not only to agricultural crops but also to horticultural produce. He also asked Roads and Buildings (R&B) officials to clear uprooted trees and damaged electric poles swiftly to avoid disruption to road transport. He called for special monitoring of weak culverts, bridges,, that could face erosion or collapse due to incessant rainfall. “People should avoid stepping out unless absolutely necessary and remain safe in their homes. In case of flooding, those in low-lying areas must be shifted to safer places, with all necessary relief provided,” he directed.

Meanwhile, Revenue, Registration and Stamps Minister Anagani Satyaprasad cautioned that the low-pressure formed over the west-central Bay of Bengal has intensified into a depression. He urged coastal residents and fishermen to stay alert, advising fishermen not to venture into the sea for the next five days.
