An 800-year-old doorway from the Kakatiya era in Brahmanawada, Hanamkonda, is at risk of being damaged due to a road widening project. This heritage structure, which once served as an entrance arch to a temple, is a remarkable example of Kakatiya craftsmanship.  The arch includes a sill, two vertical jambs, and an intricately carved lintel, showcasing the architectural excellence of the period.

Heritage experts, Dr. E. Sivanagireddy, archaeologist and CEO of Pleach India Foundation, and Aravind Arya, Secretary of the Team of Research on Culture and Heritage (TORCH), visited the site after locals raised an alarm on the state of the structure. They expressed concern over the potential destruction of this significant monument and highlighted the lack of preservation efforts.

Dr. Sivanagireddy and Arya urged the Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation (GWMC) to carefully relocate the structure to the nearby Sivalayam temple to safeguard it for future generations.  They also suggested removing the modern paint layers by using chemical treatments to restore its original grandeur. Their appeal emphasizes the need to balance development with the preservation of historical landmarks. Locals and experts hope that immediate steps will be taken to ensure this doorway, a vital part of the Kakatiya legacy, is protected from further damage.
