With groundwater levels depleting across the city, the Managing Director of the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB), Ashok Reddy, urged citizens to use water judiciously. He held a review meeting on Saturday at the headquarters in Khairatabad along with JMD Mayank Mittal and senior officials from transmission, QAT, and other departments.

The MD reviewed transmission systems, treatment plants, water quality, and chlorination processes, directing officials to monitor staff attendance at pumping stations and strengthen security with CCTV surveillance.

He stressed that there should be no shortage of drinking water and instructed that tanker supply be ensured in areas facing contamination issues. Officials were told to respond quickly to bookings and maintain supply as per summer allocations.

He also directed prioritising complaints on water shortage and low pressure, and called for a special coordination team between transmission and O&M wings.

Warning against misuse, he said action would be taken against illegal motor pumping, which leads to low-pressure problems in several areas.
