Bollywood actress Huma Qureshi said her role in Bayaan has been “challenging and rewarding”, ahead of the film’s screening at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne. The film is directed by Bikas Ranjan and features the actor in the role of Roohi, a determined police officer investigating her first major case involving a powerful cult leader accused of sexual abuse.

Qureshi said she is proud to know the film will be screened at the festival. “Roohi is a woman who stands her ground in the face of immense pressure, and portraying her journey pushed me as an actor in many ways. What drew me to the film was not just the gripping investigation, but the questions it raises about power, truth and justice,” she said.

The actress added, “Bayaan will be screened at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne, a festival that has consistently celebrated meaningful cinema. I would want the audiences to connect with the film, engage with the conversations, and leave the theatre with something to reflect on after the credits roll.” The festival will begin on August 13.
