In an act of corporate philanthropy, a leading Hyderabad-based blade manufacturing company has extended a major in-kind donation to the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), significantly easing the temple body’s recurring operational expenses.
Vertice, a prominent blade manufacturer headquartered in Hyderabad, has donated a year’s supply of blades used at the Kalyanakatta, where devotees tonsure their heads as part of a religious offering to Lord Venkateswara. The value of the donated blades is estimated at around Rs. 1.20 crore, a move that will help TTD save approximately Rs. 1.16 crore annually on blade procurement.
As part of the donation, Vertice supplied “Silver Max Half Blades,” which are routinely used at the Kalyanakatta facilities in Tirumala. On an average day, nearly 40,000 blades are consumed to cater to the steady inflow of devotees offering their hair as a vow, making blade procurement a significant recurring expenditure for TTD.
The donation was formally handed over by Vertice Director Boddupalli Sridhar, who met TTD Chairman B.R. Naidu at the latter’s camp office and presented the contribution on behalf of the company.
