Shopping took a back seat to food celebration in Hyderabad on Friday as Vijay Sales hosted the grand finale of the Philips OneChef Biryani Premier League, a nationwide consumer engagement campaign by Versuni India, home to Philips Domestic Appliances.
After weeks of QR code-based voting, tasting sessions and online participation, Hyderabadi Biryani was crowned India's favourite, reaffirming the city's reputation as the country's biryani capital. Celebrity chef Ranveer Brar announced the winner in the presence of Telugu actor Tejaswi Madiwada, with visitors sampling regional biryanis before casting their votes.
The campaign moved beyond conventional product promotion by using food to engage consumers while showcasing the Philips OneChef all-in-one cooking appliance. The contest featured Hyderabadi, Awadhi, Kolkata, Bombay, Sindhi, Kashmiri, Kanpuri, Bengaluru and Goan Fish biryanis.
Speaking at the event, Brar said every region has given biryani a unique identity, making it one of India's most loved dishes. On recent food safety inspections in Hyderabad, he stressed the importance of Food Safety and Standards Authority of India certification, regular inspections and strict hygiene standards.
Pooja Baid, Chief Marketing Officer, Versuni India, said the campaign celebrated India's culinary diversity and the emotional bond people share with regional food traditions. The finale also featured live demonstrations of the Philips OneChef appliance.
