The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has finalized arrangements to ensure this year’s Ganesh idol immersion is safe, eco-friendly, and smooth across the city.

Commissioner R.V. Karnan, along with Additional Commissioner Raghu Prasad and senior officials, inspected major immersion points on Saturday, including Sanathnagar Sports Complex, Necklace Road, Ameerpet, and Nampally Exhibition Grounds. He reviewed barricading, lighting, sanitation, and traffic management, and directed staff to maintain coordination with police and community organizers.

To ease congestion and prevent pollution of natural water bodies,

GHMC has set up 74 artificial immersion points, deploying 134 static cranes, 269 mobile cranes, and 160 Ganesh Assistance Teams. Sanitation efforts involve 14,486 workers in three shifts, supported by 2,000 additional sweepers, 102 mini-tippers, 125 JCBs, and 30 sweeping machines. Already, 1,400 metric tonnes of debris have been cleared and 839 km of roads trimmed for processions.

Promoting eco-friendly celebrations, GHMC has distributed two lakh clay Ganesh idols and five lakh trash bags at pandals. Health measures include anti-larval operations in 56,000 households and intensive garbage clearance drives.

Commissioner Karnan appealed to citizens to cooperate with civic staff and use eco-friendly facilities, ensuring a safe, orderly, and spiritually fulfilling immersion.
