Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan has assured differently-abled persons that their concerns will be taken up for discussion in the State Cabinet, promising efforts towards concrete solutions.
During his visit to Visakhapatnam, members of the Visually Challenged Youth Association submitted a representation to the Deputy CM highlighting a series of pressing issues. They urged the government to amend GO No. 2 and generalize roster point 6, which they said would ensure fair opportunities for eligible visually impaired male candidates.
The association also demanded individual ration cards for differently-abled persons so that all could access welfare schemes directly. Representatives further raised grievances about irregularities in the distribution of social pensions, which they said was causing hardships for many.
After patiently hearing their appeals, Pawan Kalyan assured them that these issues would be placed before the Cabinet for detailed discussion. “We will strive to resolve these challenges and ensure that the differently-abled community receives the support it deserves,” he said.
Furthermore, a delegation of auto drivers from Visakhapatnam also met the Deputy CM and submitted a petition outlining their concerns. They pointed out that their incomes had dropped significantly following the rollout of the ‘Stree Shakti’ free bus travel scheme for women.
Responding to their concerns, Pawan Kalyan said the scheme was part of the government’s “Super Six” promises and aimed at providing women greater economic mobility and independence. At the same time, he acknowledged the drivers’ difficulties and assured them that their suggestions regarding alternative income opportunities and other problems would also be placed before the Cabinet for consideration.
