The Hyderabad City Police has launched the Swift Women Action Team (SWAT) in new uniforms. This team comprises 35 women police officers who have undergone specialized training in Krav Maga and unarmed combat.
The primary objective of this SWAT team is to effectively manage women protesters during dharnas, rallies, and other public gatherings. They will also be deployed during significant events and festivals across Hyderabad City. The SWAT team will be highly beneficial for the Hyderabad City Police in controlling women within crowds during protests and rallies.
Following two months of intensive training, the SWAT team was officially inducted on June 3, 2025, by C V Anand, DG and Commissioner of Police, Hyderabad. The SWAT team, donning their new uniforms, was first deployed for duty at the Telangana Secretariat on July 4, 2025.
