Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka urged women’s groups to fully utilize government support, aiming to make Telangana a national role model in women empowerment. Speaking at the Indira Mahila Shakti celebrations at Pragathi Bhavan, he highlighted the government’s commitment, under Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, to treat women as “queens” and ensure their financial independence.
He criticized the previous BRS regime for ignoring interest-free loans and incentives for women’s groups. In contrast, the Congress government has reinstated these schemes, encouraging women to engage in business and generate income. Interest-free loan cheques have already been distributed at major gatherings in Hyderabad. The Deputy CM announced another round of loan distributions from July 12 to 18 across all constituencies. He urged women’s groups to meet between July 7 and 9 to plan effective use of funds and spread awareness.
In a key move, women's groups have been enabled to lease buses to RTC, receiving Rs 1 crore in rental payments in the first phase. Future earnings are expected to increase. To promote entrepreneurship, the Energy Department has partnered with women’s groups to generate 1,000 MW of solar power. The government is also assigning them work like running canteens, school repairs, and uniform stitching, with plans to ensure markets for their products.
‘Our goal is to make one crore women into millionaires,’ Bhatti Vikramarka said, noting that Rs 21,000 crore in interest-free loans were distributed in the first year, with Rs 20,000 crore planned annually. Additional support includes bank linkages and insurance schemes for self-help groups.
