ICFAI Law School organized a 3-day International Conference on “Correctional Reforms: Novel Vistas” at ICFAI Law School Campus Hyderabad. The event brought together eminent academicians, practitioners, and officials from prison administration to deliberate on contemporary challenges and reformative strategies.
Delivering the keynote address, the Chief Guest, Dr. Soumya Mishra, Director General of Prisons & Correctional Services, Telangana, reflected on the shift from a punitive to a reformative approach in prison administration. She emphasized that both police and prison systems share the common objective of protecting society while enabling the transformation of offenders.
Prof. Tamma Koti Reddy, Vice Chancellor, ICFAI Foundation for Higher Education highlighted critical challenges within the prison system, including overcrowding, the high number of undertrial prisoners and the need for stronger statutory regulation. Prof. Y. Pratap Reddy, Dean, ICFAI Law School emphasized the importance of Criminal Law discourse and the need for reform-oriented perspectives.
