IIMC celebrates 150 years of ‘Vande Mataram’ with collective singing

As part of the 150th anniversary celebrations of ‘Vande Mataram,’ IIMC College's National Service Scheme (NSS) Units 1 and 2 hosted a collective singing of the iconic song, penned by Bankim Chandra Chatterjee in Anand Math. The event saw enthusiastic participation from NSS volunteers, NCC cadets, and students, who joined together to sing the song in unison.

Principal and NSS Chairman Kura Raghuveer spoke on the historical significance of ‘Vande Mataram,’ noting its debut performance by Rabindranath Tagore at an Indian National Congress session. He also highlighted that, post-independence, India’s first President, Dr. Rajendra Prasad, declared it as the national song.

The event was also graced by Deans Dr. Thirumal Rao and Dr. Santoshi, NSS Program Officers M Satyanarayana and Ramakrishna Irukulla, NCC Officer Vasanth Kumar, department heads, faculty, and non-teaching staff, all of whom participated in this momentous occasion.
