Indian para-cyclists shine at Korat

09-12-2025 12:17:37 AM

A 10-member Indian para-cycling team trained by the Aditya Mehta Foundation (AMF) participated in the Korat, Thailand Para Cycling Cup 2025. Athletes from 12 countries competed at the event, giving the Indian team exposure to high-performance international racing. The contingent also included two hand cyclists, reflecting the growing depth of India’s para-cycling ecosystem.

In the “Track Events” category, in the individual time trial (1 km), Lisha from Assam won the silver medal and Vishva from Gujarat won the bronze. Similarly, in the individual pursuit, both Vishva and Lisha won bronze medals. In the 200 metres sprint, Lisha won silver medal, Vishva and Pavan Kumar from Andhra Pradesh won bronze medals. Coming to the road events, in individual time trial, both Vishva and Lisha along with Yogesh and Prashanth from Maharashtra won bronze medals. The event also fostered friendships and learning exchanges with para-cyclists from other nations.

Our Paralympian para-cyclist, Arshad Shaik, secured 4th place despite recently undergoing surgery for a fractured arm — a true display of grit and determination. The team’s participation was made possible through the support of Invesco, GMMCO, Alcon, and Flutter Entertainment (for adult para-cyclists). Their contributions toward adaptive equipment, training, rehabilitation, travel and selection camps significantly strengthened this effort.
